Fortified Structures

The fortification and hardening of structures combined with technological products are actually affordable and relatively easy to implement.

Any building could be the target of a terrorist or criminal attack. Most building owners take some precautions to prevent these events from occurring. An example of basic fundamental precautions include installing secure locks and adding a video surveillance system. However some structures require more extensive measures, such as fortification/hardening.

Fortification or hardening of residences, businesses, government buildings, etc. is the practice of taking steps to make a building or other structure a more difficult or less attractive target for terrorists, criminals, and other potential attackers.

Some types of buildings, such as large retail centers, banks, government buildings, transportation hubs and power plants, are more likely to be the target of significant attacks.

Certain types of structures make for more attractive targets for terrorists and criminals. Terrorists typically select targets on which an attack is likely to inflict severe economic, emotional, or societal damage. Those structures that play a central role in an economy, government, society, or culture are at a higher risk. Facilities which attract large numbers of people are generally at a higher risk. Criminals usually target buildings that contain items of significant value in an attempt to steal those items.

Building a fortified structure or hardening an existing structure isn’t about one specific thing — it’s a combination of little things and layers that add up. Together, those layers deter criminals, crowds, or mobs from trying to gain access. If they do, they’re more likely to quit from frustration and less likely to be successful in the end.

Conducting an onsite Threat Vulnerability assessment is done at the clients facility. We start with a round table discussion and then do a full inspection of the entire facility as well as review all Security plans and Security equipment in use.

The first steps in determining the feasibility of hardening an existing structure is to completely understand the client’s priorities/goals/budget. Then we thoroughly examine the site and its surroundings, be fully aware of all regulatory agencies having jurisdiction and to conduct a full Risk Assessment. Once this information has been assimilated, the development of the Hardened Structure Feasibility Study can be completed and submitted. This allows the Client to modify their needs and expectations. Our planning, design and construction of a Hardened Structure is technically specific, complex, and thoroughly executed.

Once US Armor Personnel completes the Hardened Structure Vulnerability assessment, our specially trained engineers will take the lead to design the hardening of that facility. No matter if it’s an armed assault, Flash Mob or any other type of scenario, our experienced teams will design, construct, or harden your facility efficiently, covertly, and cost effectively anywhere around the Globe.
